January Highlights and Happenings at The Diener School

Dear Reader,

As we settle into the new year, we are excited to reflect on the energy and enthusiasm that has already shaped the start of 2025 at The Diener School. With a strong sense of community and commitment to growth, we are looking forward to all the opportunities this year will bring for our students, families, and staff.

In case you missed it, we recently mailed our Winter Newsletter. Did you receive it? This newsletter includes exciting highlights about our beautiful new campus. If you would like to see our new campus in person, please email Laurie Aaronson at Laurie@thedienerschool.org to schedule a tour.

Additionally, we have two upcoming community events and we would love for you to join us. See below for more details, and be sure to mark your calendar.

Thank you for your continued support and for being a part of the Diener family. We are excited for all the possibilities 2025 holds!

January - A Month Full of Excitement!

Learning✏️ + Football🏈 = Magic at The Diener School!🌟

At The Diener School, we make learning come to life by blending multi-sensory learning with students’ passions. Ms. Michelle and Mr. Lucas’ class is doing just that with their hands-on NFL project! From drafting teams and tracking stats to writing letters to NFL teams, they’re mastering skills while celebrating their love for the game. It’s this personalized, engaging approach that makes our school truly unique!

When the Washington Commanders heard about this exciting project, they wanted to join in on the fun. We had the honor of hosting Major Tuddy, the Command Force Cheerleaders, Fred Smoot, Ken Harvey, and other special guests for a pep rally that had everyone buzzing with excitement.

A big thank you to the Washington Commanders for celebrating with us and bringing so much energy to the day! We’re incredibly grateful for their time, enthusiasm, and the joy they brought to our students and community. The day was filled with fun, laughter, and school spirit—memories we will cherish for years to come!

Field Trips🚌: Turning Learning Into an Adventure🌟

Field trips offer students a unique opportunity to step outside the classroom and experience learning in a whole new way. By connecting lessons to real-world environments, field trips make learning more engaging, memorable, and hands-on. Whether exploring nature, visiting museums, or interacting with experts, these experiences help students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and social skills that can’t always be taught in a classroom. Field trips inspire curiosity, foster a love of learning, and create lasting memories that enrich a child’s education.

Middle School students headed to the National Cryptologic Museum to learn about the history of codes and code breaking in the United States. In addition to exploring the museum, students gained hands on experience with four classic encryption techniques which they used to decrypt secret coded messages.

Elementary School students traveled to the Maryland Science Center, where they dove into exciting topics like physics, biology, engineering, space, and the environment. Through hands-on activities such as building simple machines, experimenting with light and sound, and experiencing virtual reality simulations, students were able to actively engage with science in a fun, interactive way. Their adventure also included a special trip to the IMAX theater, where the students watched a captivating 3D film about the mysteries of the sea.

The Diener School Annual Fund - Please Help Us Reach Our Goal

As we continue to build on the spirit of gratitude and community, we are excited to share that our Annual Fund is in full swing. This initiative is crucial to ensuring the continued excellence and sustainability of The Diener School, helping to bridge the gap between tuition and the true cost of educating our students.

We’re proud to share that we’ve raised over 50% of our $150,000 goal and with your help, we’re confident we can surpass this target. Any additional funds will go directly toward our Capital Campaign, securing Diener’s future for generations to come.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has already contributed—your support is making a meaningful difference. If you haven’t yet had the chance, we invite you to join us in making an impact. Every contribution, no matter the size, truly matters!
